On The Road

The Philadelphia Virtuosi Chamber Orchestra is available for bookings world-wide in 2024-2027

With dozens of national and international tours over the past 28 years, the Philadelphia Virtuosi has dazzled audiences from Los Angeles to New York’s Lincoln Center and from Rio de Janeiro to Moscow’s iconic Tchaikovsky Hall. Their unique and powerful performances have re-defined the classical music experience. Founder and Music Director Daniel Spalding, recognized as “one of the most innovative conductors on today’s music scene” is offering a new touring show designed to leave audiences not just entertained, but enthralled.

Teaming up with sensational Flamenco dancer Liliana Ruiz, Daniel Spalding and his 24 piece orchestra includes a unique makeup of strings, harp, and five virtuoso percussionists performing on over 50 instruments. Add to that the amazing footwork, the clatter of the castanets and the brilliant costumes of Liliana Ruiz, and we have an exciting and unique interpretation of Bizet’s “Carmen” as arranged by Russian composer Rodin Shchedrin – his most played and most famous work. The Philadelphia Virtuosi’s recording of this work on Arabesque was a Grammy finalist.

The program continues with Three Tangos by Astor Piazzolla, Argentina’s most revered composer, again using drums, marimbas and xylophones to bring forth the authentic flavor and syncopated rhythms of the music. Then, a piano soloist joins the group for Leonard Bernstein’s West Side Story Suite for solo piano, strings, harp, and percussion. This is a tour de force unlike anything you have heard before; the tenderness of the piano in Maria, the heartfelt strings in Somewhere, the driving percussion in Mambo and America. The music of West Side Story comes alive with new color and vibrancy. A huge finale will bring down the house with a clamoring for encores – just what happened for a packed Kravis Center in West Palm Beach. Special lighting completes the package – this is a concert that will surprise and delight your audience. Don’t let this opportunity pass you by.
